GURU SOMAYAJI​
Guru is a concert lighting designer and a live music consultant based out of Bangalore. He has been an integral part of the Indian Independent Music Ethos for almost two decades. Starting off as a percussionist and a journalist, he worked his way to an expertise in stage, event and music festival management and music curation before landing on his current professions. Through this time, organisers, promoters, venue owners, event companies, bands and musicians rest easy when he is on the job in any capacity, resulting in him being sought after by artists as wide ranging as Parekh & Singh, Skrat, When Chai Met Toast and The Local Train for lighting design. He has also worked on lighting designs for various festivals and stand-alone events including Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Shirock, MIT Revels, Rendezvous IIT Delhi, and more. He was formerly the COO of Counterculture, a landmark music venue and consultancy group based in Bangalore.
He travels extensively, designing and controlling lighting rigs painstakingly tailor made for the aesthetic and mood of every individual artist and event.
In his free time, he is a terrace gardener, a cook and a beer connoisseur.
